About this Pattern

Siri Mittens - Winter Edition (Siri Luffer - Vinter Version) by Knitlidt is a pair of unisex mittens featuring a classic Faroese pattern, perfect for winter use. The mittens can be knitted in three different sizes: 1 (2) 3. They are inspired by one of the many traditional Faroese patterns found in the book "Faroese Knitting Patterns" (Original Title: Føroysk Bindingarmynstur) by Hans M. Debes (1932). Note: The mittens are knitted in wool/alpaca, which causes them to felt and shrink with regular use. The mittens are knitted on size 3.5 needles with thick yarn, making them extra warm. You can use yarn such as Merino+ from Lang Yarns or Peruvian from Filcolana.

Meet

Knitlidt

My name is Camilla Grady, and I am a 24-year-old student teacher, knitting and coffee enthusiast, who develops knitting patterns in my spare time. As a half-American and Dane with Faroese heritage, I am something of a cultural cocktail, which is also reflected in my knitting. That is why I chose the name Knitlidt ("strik lidt" or "knit a bit"), as it is a blend of my two mother tongues: English and Danish. Many of my patterns are inspired by Faroese knitting culture, including “Katrin,” “Nora,” and “Siri.”
