Christmas Angel

Christmas Angel is an atmospheric and poetic Christmas ornament designed by AxelKnit. The design is created as a small, manageable knitting project that combines simplicity with fine details, resulting in an elegant, handmade look. The angel is perfect as classic Christmas decor, but also works beautifully as a personal gift or a decorative element in the winter home.

The design is knitted back and forth in one piece in garter stitch with decorative i-cord edges, giving the angel a clean and graphic expression. The wings are knitted separately using the same technique and are assembled at the end together with a 10 mm wooden bead, which forms the angel’s head. Finally, a cord is attached so the angel can hang on the Christmas tree, a branch or a hook.

Christmas Angel is available in two sizes, small and large, with a finished length of 7 (9) cm. The design is knitted on 3 mm double-pointed needles, and the stated gauge is 20 stitches x 40 rows in garter stitch = 10 x 10 cm. This makes the project easy to adjust and quick to finish, even for less experienced knitters.

For the angel itself, approx. 5–10 g of Semilla Melange GOTS from BC Garn is used, with a yardage of 175 m per 50 g, which corresponds to approx. 175 m per 50 g or 3.5 m per gram. Alternatively, Coast from Uldbutik can be used, worked with double strand and with a total yardage of 350 m per 50 g, corresponding to 175 m per 50 g in the finished work. The yarn amount indicates the total consumption.

The wings are knitted in approx. 3–5 g of Semilla Melange GOTS or Brillino from Lana Grossa, also worked with double strand. This gives the wings a light, decorative and festive expression.
