Isadora Top is a light, feminine summer top designed by Mrs Funny Valentine and inspired by the life and spirit of dancer Isadora Duncan. The design celebrates freedom of movement, natural elegance, and the beauty of simplicity, translating these values into a timeless knitted garment with refined construction details.
The Isadora Top is a seamless, top-down design worked flat and in the round. Construction begins at the back shoulders, which are worked separately and then joined to form the back neckline. Front shoulders are worked next, after which front and back are joined and the body is knitted in the round to the hem. The top is intended to be worn with the purl side facing out, giving it a soft, matte texture, but it can also be worn reversed for a classic stockinette look.
Slim i-cord edges frame the neckline and continue down the sides, where decorative wedges are worked to create a gentle A-line shape. The top fits closely around the bust with negative ease and flares loosely over the hips for comfort and elegance.
Isadora Top is knitted using 3.0 mm needles and fingering weight yarn. The original design uses Knitting for Olive Pure Silk, a 100% bourette silk yarn with a yardage of 250 meters per 50 grams. Depending on size, approximately 520 to 940 meters of yarn are required. This corresponds to a running length of 250 meters per 50 grams. The sample shown is knitted in the color Putty.
The design is available in sizes XS, S (M, L, XL) 2XL, 3XL. Finished bust measurements range from 72 cm to 133 cm, with negative ease included. The hem circumference ranges from 92 cm to 150 cm, providing generous ease and movement.
The blocked gauge is 25 stitches and 40 rows per 10 cm in stockinette stitch using 3.0 mm needles. Achieving gauge is essential for the intended fit and drape.
