About this Pattern

Knitlidt Beanie is a warm, thick winter hat designed by Camilla Grady from Knitlidt. This modern and timeless beanie is knitted in stockinette stitch with a folded brim that gives it a neat, structured edge while keeping the ears warm. The crown is shaped through evenly spaced decreases, creating the signature round silhouette that gives the design its classic, flattering fit. Knitlidt Beanie is a simple yet refined project that beautifully combines functionality, comfort, and Scandinavian style.

The beanie is worked with two strands held together, allowing you to play with shades for a subtle melange look or choose the same color for a uniform, elegant result. The design is knitted on 4.5 mm (US 7) needles for the brim and 5 mm (US 8) needles for the body, with optional double-pointed needles or Magic Loop for the final shaping. The gauge is 18 stitches and 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in) in stockinette stitch before washing.

Knitlidt Beanie comes in sizes S (M) L, suitable for head circumferences of 53/55 (56/58) 59/62 cm, ensuring a comfortable fit for both teens and adults. The simple construction makes it an ideal project for intermediate beginners and experienced knitters alike.

The pattern is designed for yarns such as Merino 120 fra Lang Yarns (50 g = 120 m), Landlust Alpaka Merino 160 fra Lana Grossa (50 g = 160 m) or Cool Wool Cashmere (≈160 m/50 g). When using Merino 120, you’ll need about 130 (140) 150 g in total, corresponding to 60 (70) 80 g of each strand. For the lighter 160 m/50 g yarns, you’ll need approximately 100 (110) 120 g in total, or 50 (55) 60 g of each strand.

The hat begins with a ribbed edge in k2, p1 worked in the round. The brim is folded and joined for a clean finish before continuing in smooth stockinette. The crown is shaped with symmetrical decreases at four points, resulting in a beautifully rounded top. The final fabric is dense yet soft, creating a beanie that keeps its shape and warmth even in cold weather. Knitlidt Beanie is the perfect everyday winter accessory – minimalist, stylish, and endlessly wearable.

Meet

Knitlidt

My name is Camilla Grady, and I am a 24-year-old student teacher, knitting and coffee enthusiast, who develops knitting patterns in my spare time. As a half-American and Dane with Faroese heritage, I am something of a cultural cocktail, which is also reflected in my knitting. That is why I chose the name Knitlidt ("strik lidt" or "knit a bit"), as it is a blend of my two mother tongues: English and Danish. Many of my patterns are inspired by Faroese knitting culture, including “Katrin,” “Nora,” and “Siri.”
