About this Pattern

The Sonia Mock Vest is a stylish and cozy layering piece perfect for any season. Designed by Enida Avdic and ideal for beginners, this vest is worked using a combination of yarn over slip stitches (YO SS BLO) and slip stitches (SS BLO), creating a knit-look texture with beautiful drape. Constructed in five parts—front and back panels, collar ribbing, and two sleeve ribbings—this garment is assembled as you go, making it a manageable and rewarding crochet project.

The vest is crafted using a double strand of Hobbii’s Friends Extra Fine Merino (sport weight) and Friends Kid Silk, producing a soft, luxurious feel. The combination of Merino and Kid Silk not only adds a delicate sheen but ensures warmth and lightness. If substituting yarns, opt for a DK weight yarn to achieve the proper gauge.

The recommended hook size is 4 mm, and the gauge for the knit stitch pattern is 24 rows and 20 stitches per 10x10 cm. The vest is available in multiple adult sizes: XS-S, M-L, XL, and 2XL-3XL, accommodating bust measurements from 80 cm to 130 cm. The finished fit features a slightly negative ease of 3–5 cm, ensuring a flattering silhouette. Adjustments for length and width are simple—just modify the number of stitches or rows in the panels to suit your preference.

Each size provides specific yarn requirements, such as:

  • XS-S: 200g Merino + 100g Kid Silk

  • M-L: 240g Merino + 120g Kid Silk

  • XL: 280g Merino + 140g Kid Silk

  • 2XL-3XL: 320g Merino + 160g Kid Silk

The vest is designed with attention to shaping around the collar and armholes, featuring increases and decreases to sculpt the garment. A detailed step-by-step tutorial is available via the designer’s social media, making this an accessible and enjoyable project for all skill levels.
