About this Pattern

The Weekend Knit Pant is a unique knit pant for children (ages 6 months to 5 years) using merino yarn, a luxurious merino no-itch yarn perfect for children’s movement and sensitivity. The pants are designed to fit snug.

These pants are knit from waist to foot (top-down) with a mix of stockinette and ribbing. Begin by creating a 3-stitch i-cord. Then start knitting the pants: with the waist, knit in the round in ribbing; then insert the i-cord around the waist. The top is then folded down around the i-cord and connected to the pants. The back of the pants is knit in German Short Rows. after which continued in stockinette in the round. The gusset is formed before stitches are divided for the legs. Legs are knit separately in the round while also gradually working decreases. Each leg ends with ribbing, which can be folded over and used to elongate the length – perfect for a growing child.

The pants are worked with Double Sunday or two strands of Sunday yarn by Sandnes on 4 mm needles.

I started knitting when I was at university, and my passion has only grown stronger since then. I am obsessed with everything related to yarn, including macramé weaving and felting. Knitwear design is a new path for me, and I enjoy every minute and every challenge.
