The Mette Bag is a stylish and functional knitted bag design by AxelKnit, created for those who love minimalist accessories with a natural look. The bag is worked in one piece from the bottom up, allowing the base to form smoothly in stockinette stitch before transitioning into the textured waffle pattern. It comes in two sizes: small and large, measuring 18 (22) cm in diameter and approx. 27 (32) cm in height without the handle .

The bag is knitted using durable Rope/Jute Yarn from Infinity Hearts, a rustic and strong material perfect for projects that need structure and stability. The bag requires 160 g for the small size and 240 g for the large. The yarn has a yardage of 100 m per skein, giving the bag its sturdy texture.

Worked on 5 mm needles, the Mette Bag uses a gauge of 12 sts × 18 rows = 10 × 10 cm in waffle stitch. The side panels repeat a simple four-round waffle pattern that provides both texture and strength. After reaching the desired height, the top of the bag is shaped into a folded casing by knitting together with the earlier stockinette round, creating a clean finish. During this step, four evenly spaced holes are made for the drawstring handle.

The handle is knitted as an I-cord, giving it a round, polished shape. After reaching the correct length, the I-cord is threaded through the casing and joined seamlessly using grafting (Kitchener stitch) for a durable, invisible finish.
