This one-size accessory combines the timeless comfort of a cozy scarf with the protective charm of a snug hood, all in one seamless piece. Designed by Trine Ellegaard, the Isolde Hood is knitted from tip to tip in a delicate 1x1 rib pattern, featuring thoughtful shaping through symmetrical increases and decreases for a perfect fit.
The scarf is worked flat using 5.0 mm (US 8) needles, and the hood is constructed with the same technique and seamed at the crown using mattress stitch for a smooth, polished look. The pattern includes a narrow two-stitch i-cord edge for structure and style, while the transitions between increases and decreases create elegant points at each end of the scarf.
The recommended yarn combination adds luxury and softness to this piece. It is knitted with approximately 250 g of Lambswool by Lang Yarns (50 g = 150 m), held together with approximately 50 g of Lace by Lang Yarns (25 g = 310 m). The resulting fabric is light, airy, and wonderfully insulating.
Yarn Calculations:
Lambswool (50 g = 150 m) → 3 m per gram → 1250 m for 250 g
Lace (25 g = 310 m) → 12.4 m per gram → 620 m for 50 g
Total held together: approx. 1250 m + 620 m of yarn
Gauge and Fastness:
Gauge: 23 stitches x 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm in 1x1 rib on 5.0 mm needles
This gives a running length of approx. 150 m per 50 g for Lambswool, and 620 m per 50 g for Lace
The finished scarf measures approx. 130 cm (51 in.) from hood to tip, with a hood depth of approx. 24 cm (9.5 in.). Whether worn over a coat or as a statement piece, the Isolde Hood is the perfect accessory for layering in any season.
