About this Pattern

The Violetta Purse is an elegant and practical knitted pouch or slim pencil case, perfect for both everyday use and festive occasions. The versatile pattern allows you to choose between three sizes: a small purse measuring 15 x 10 cm, a larger version at 20 x 13.5 cm, and a slim pencil case at 20 x 8 cm. Use it for makeup, cards, coins, cash, or to organize your knitting accessories – the possibilities are many. Whatever the purpose, you’ll get a functional design with a classic and sophisticated look.

The design centers around a refined herringbone pattern created using slip-stitch knitting. This gives the purse a firm structure and an exclusive appearance, while still being enjoyable to knit. The purse is knitted in the round using the magic loop technique on a 3.0 mm circular needle (80–100 cm), and finished with a smaller circular needle or double-pointed needles in 2.5 mm for the tabs and binding-off. The recommended yarn combination is silk merino (100 g = 400 m) together with hand-dyed silk mohair (50 g = 420 m), held double. This creates a soft and luxurious finish. Yarn usage varies: approx. 18 g (small), 33 g (large), and 25 g (pencil case) of silk merino, and approx. 8 g, 16 g, and 12 g of silk mohair.

The pattern also includes practical details such as a sewn-in zipper (15, 20, or 20 cm depending on size) and a fabric lining, which adds both durability and elegance. You are guided through every step of the pattern, from the invisible cast-on and slip-stitch work, to double-knit tabs, zipper installation, and instructions for sewing the lining, either by hand or machine.

The Violetta Purse is more than just a pouch, it is a piece of exclusive craftsmanship. The pattern is designed by Trine Ellegaard from KnitAmore, known for her thoughtful designs and love of quality. With this pattern, you get both a creative project and a finished result that you can proudly use or gift. A timeless accessory that combines beauty and functionality – and is sure to attract admiration.

Knitamore

“Knitamore” is a combination of English and Italian, meaning knit and love respectively, and Knitamore was created because of my great romance with yarn and knitting needles. I learned to knit when I was in daycare, and I have had needles in my hands and the scent of wool in my nose all my life. I design knitwear purely out of passion and from the heart, and I follow no rules. I do my very best to bring my best ideas to life.
