Worked top-down in two strands of silk mohair (such as Tilia from Filcolana, 210 m/25g), it creates a soft and luxurious fabric. The pattern includes sizes from XS to 4XL, with a recommended gauge of 21 sts x 28 rows on 4 mm needles.

The blouse features classic raglan construction, a ribbed neckline, and a flowing body finished with twisted ribbing. Perfect for cooler days or layered over a dress, this blouse is a stylish staple for any handmade wardrobe.

About this Pattern

The Muslinge Mohair Blouse is light as air and delicately feminine, featuring soft puff sleeves and a striking clam and cable motif on the front. This elegant blouse is worked top-down using two strands of silk mohair held together, offering both warmth and an ethereal finish. It's the perfect layering piece for both cool spring days and cozy autumn evenings.

This blouse is available in eight sizes: (XS) S (M) L (XL) 2XL (3XL) 4XL with bust circumferences ranging from 106 to 145 cm and body lengths between 54 and 66 cm. Sleeve lengths vary from 42 to 54 cm depending on the size. Designed with a positive ease of 5–10 cm, the blouse drapes beautifully while maintaining a flattering silhouette.

You’ll be knitting with Tilia from Filcolana (or any equivalent silk mohair yarn, 210 meters per 25g), held double. Yarn requirements range from 175–200 g in size XS to 400 g in size 4XL. That equals a yarn length of 420 meters per 50g. The recommended gauge is 21 stitches x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch on 4 mm needles, after washing and blocking.

Needles required:

  • 4 mm circular needles for the main body

  • 3 mm circular needles for neckline ribbing

  • 3 mm double-pointed needles for sleeve cuffs

The construction includes carefully placed increases in the front and back, creating a refined structure without adding bulk to the shoulders. The puff sleeves are formed with short rows and shaping increases, and the front panel features a 12-row repeat pattern combining cables and eyelets that creates the signature “clam” look.

The body is finished with a wide 1x1 twisted rib hem, and the neckline is neatly framed with a rib edge using Italian cast-on and bind-off for an elegant, elastic finish. The sleeves are tapered and finished with a matching rib cuff.

If you're looking for a beautiful knitting project that balances classic structure with whimsical details, the Muslinge Mohair Blouse is your perfect choice. Ideal for intermediate to advanced knitters looking to explore texture and construction in a light, luxurious fiber.

Dorte Bak Knitting

Dorte Bak Knitting was founded in 2018 and has since published patterns in a classic style with "whimsical" details. I grew up among creative women; all the women in my family have sewn, knitted, and created with their hands. Therefore, it felt entirely natural that, at the age of six, I was given my first knitting needles. Even so, it was only later in life that knitting truly captured me—and since then I haven’t been able to let it go.
