The Holly Scarf is knit back and forth on size 6 needles in garter stitch with i-cord edges. The scarf is knitted from tip to tip in one long piece. Finally, the hood is sewn together using mattress stitch.

I learned to knit 10 years ago—but quickly realized that I wasn’t very good at understanding a pattern. I felt they were full of implicit terms, and I often had the sense that I had to work out parts of the pattern on my own.
