About this Pattern

Sigrid Cardigan is a classic and versatile cardigan with an elegant and clean look, suitable for both everyday wear and more formal occasions. The garment is worked top-down, allowing you to adjust length and fit as you go. The cardigan features a neat i-cord edging along the front bands and a folded neckband, giving it a refined and professional finish. The relaxed fit with 8–15 cm of positive ease makes it especially comfortable to wear.

Sigrid Cardigan is knitted in Lima from Drops (50 g = 100 m) or Merino from Viking Garn (50 g = 105 m). These yarns have a soft and elastic structure that gives smooth definition in stockinette stitch. Depending on size, the yarn requirements are 500 (500) 600 (600) 700 (700) 750 g, corresponding to approx. 100–105 m per 50 g.

Gauge is 21 sts × 28 rows = 10 × 10 cm in stockinette on 4 mm needles, ensuring a dense and even fabric. Ribbing and the neckband are worked on 3.5 mm needles. Recommended tools include circular needles in 40, 60, 80 and 100 cm, and optionally double-pointed needles for sleeves and ribbing. Techniques such as Italian bind-off and the folded neckband provide an elegant finish and make the project engaging for the experienced knitter.

The cardigan is available in sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL, corresponding to a finished bust of 98 (110) 118 (126) 134 (142) 150 cm and a center-back length of 55 (57) 60 (62) 64 (66) 68 cm. It is worked flat in stockinette stitch with evenly distributed increases across the yoke for a good fit. The sleeves are worked in the round and shaped with decreases before being finished with ribbing and an Italian bind-off. Buttonholes are placed approximately 8 cm apart along the right front edge, and buttons are sewn on at the end.

Sigrid Cardigan is a well-crafted knitting project that combines classic techniques with modern details. It’s a cardigan you’ll return to again and again — both on your needles and in your wardrobe.
