Uddybende information
The Julle Top, designed by Anna Hamann Axelsen of Axelknit, is a light and feminine summer top worked top-down in a delicate lace pattern. The design features clean construction, elegant i-cord edges and a flattering fit created through side increases and beautiful lace texture. The front piece is worked back and forth first, allowing the V-shaped front to develop naturally through regular increases, while maintaining the integrity of the lace repeat. The back piece is then knitted in the same way. Once both pieces reach the correct width, they are joined together and the body is worked seamlessly in the round, continuing the lace pattern for a cohesive look. The top ends with a folded hem, giving the finished garment a professional and refined edge.
The Julle Top is intended to be worn with negative ease of approximately –5 cm, allowing it to sit close to the body without feeling tight. With sizes ranging from XXS to 5XL and bust measurements from 70 to 140 cm, the top fits a wide variety of body shapes. Lengths vary from 52 to 72 cm measured at the center back. The combination of fitted silhouette and airy lace makes the top both flattering and comfortable, perfect for warm weather or layering under cardigans throughout the year.
The pattern uses either Anina from Filcolana or Easy Care from Mayflower. Anina has a running length of 210 m per 50 g, while Easy Care has 185 m per 50 g, both providing a soft and smooth fabric ideal for lacework. Depending on the size, the project requires between 100 and 450 g of yarn. With a gauge of 30 stitches and 46 rows per 10 x 10 cm in lace pattern on 3 mm needles, the fabric becomes lightweight and beautifully textured. The running length per 50 g is therefore either 210 m or 185 m, according to yarn choice, ensuring compatibility with other light fingering or fingering-weight yarns.
The straps are knitted separately in stockinette stitch with elegant i-cord edges, giving them a neat finish and ensuring that they hold their shape. They are sewn to the top using Kitchener stitch for an invisible join. This attention to detail, combined with the clean lace body and the folded hem, makes the Julle Top a polished and stylish addition to any handmade wardrobe.
Julle Top is an ideal project for knitters who enjoy lace, top-down construction and refined finishing. Lightweight, breathable and timeless, it is versatile enough to wear casually with shorts, styled elegantly with skirts or layered throughout the seasons. A modern and beautiful design that quickly becomes a wardrobe favourite.
