Uddybende information

The Sakura Neck Warmer is a beautifully crafted accessory that blends elegance with warmth, inspired by the delicate blossoms of Japanese cherry trees. This neck warmer is designed to be both visually stunning and practical, making it an ideal addition to your handmade wardrobe for transitional seasons.

The design is worked from the bottom up, beginning with the back and front sections knitted flat separately before they are joined and worked in the round. This ensures a seamless and comfortable finish around the neckline. The pattern features a decorative lace motif that mimics the soft lines of blooming cherry branches, bringing a touch of natural beauty to your knitwear collection.

This project is perfect for intermediate knitters and uses 4.0 mm circular needles (40 cm length). The finished circumference after blocking is approximately 52 cm, making it a one-size-fits-most garment. The recommended gauge is 18 stitches and 25 rounds = 10 x 10 cm in pattern on 4.0 mm needles, measured after washing and blocking. Ensuring correct gauge is important for achieving the desired fit and drape.

You can knit the Sakura Neck Warmer using either Pura Lana from Gepard Garn (50% merino wool, 50% alpaca; 50 g = 115 m) or Merino 120 from Lang Yarns (100% merino; 50 g = 120 m). The project requires approximately 75 grams of yarn. This means you need roughly 172.5 to 180 meters of yarn in total. Calculating the yardage per 50g skein gives you:

  • Pura Lana: 115 m / 50 g = 2.3 m per gram, or 115 m per 50 g

  • Merino 120: 120 m / 50 g = 2.4 m per gram, or 120 m per 50 g

With these fibers, the neck warmer combines softness and structure, keeping you cozy without sacrificing style. The lacework is clearly charted and supported by detailed row-by-row instructions. Additionally, video tutorials are provided for key techniques such as the Italian cast on and bind off, as well as reading charts and elastic finishing, making it an excellent learning opportunity for those new to these methods.

This pattern results in a refined, versatile accessory that pairs beautifully with coats or layered knitwear. Whether you're strolling through a spring breeze or adding texture to a winter outfit, the Sakura Neck Warmer is a timeless, floral-inspired piece you'll reach for again and again.

Dorte Bak
