Uddybende information
The Amelia Sweater, designed by Mrs. FunnyValentine, is a feminine and minimalist knitwear design that combines subtle texture, elegance, and everyday comfort. This oversized, slightly cropped drop-shoulder sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down and showcases the signature Amelia Slip-Stitch Pattern paired with delicate Amelia Lace Ribbing. The result is a refined and airy look that reflects the designer’s characteristic soft aesthetic with bold, thoughtful details.
The sweater is knitted using Positive Ease Pure Merino (400 m per 100 g), a lightweight 100% merino yarn known for its softness and exceptional stitch definition. Depending on size, the design requires 1476–2619 meters, corresponding to 4–7 balls of yarn. This equals a running length of 200 m per 50 g.
Amelia Sweater is available in sizes XS–3XL, designed with 18–25 cm of positive ease for a relaxed and flattering silhouette. Final bust measurements range from 93–168 cm, making it suitable for a wide variety of body shapes.
The pattern calls for 3.5 mm (US 4) and 3.25 mm (US 3) needles, or the size needed to achieve gauge. The blocked gauge is 38 stitches × 60 rows = 10 cm in the Amelia Pattern using the larger needle.
Construction begins by working the upper back flat in the woven slip-stitch texture. Each shoulder is then shaped individually with neckline increases before joining to create the front. Once both panels are completed, stitches are united and the body is worked seamlessly in the round down to the hem. Sleeves are picked up around the armhole, gently tapered with structured decreases, and finished with extra-long lace cuffs. The neckline is completed with a beautifully textured lace ribbing that frames the face with soft sophistication.
The Amelia Sweater is suited for adventurous beginners and experienced knitters alike. Its rhythmic slip-stitch pattern and clean shaping create a relaxing project with a polished, modern result. This design is a versatile wardrobe favourite—easy to style, comfortable to wear, and a pleasure to knit from start to finish.
