Uddybende information

Galsi is a modern colorwork sweater designed by Rakel from Knitter from Iceland known for her clean and wearable knitwear. This pattern features a beautiful two-color yoke and a flattering, slightly fitted shape that looks great on all body types. The sweater is knitted bottom-up in the round, with the sleeves and body joined for the yoke, so there are minimal seams to finish. The pattern is written in English and includes detailed yoke charts and size instructions. If you prefer a looser or longer fit, simply choose one size larger than usual.

The Galsi sweater is knitted in Icelandic wool yarn from Ístex, a lightweight yet warm yarn that creates a durable and breathable fabric. Each skein weighs 50 g and measures 100 m (≈109 yd), making it perfect for quick but comfortable sweaters. You will need two colors:
- Main color (Light Beige 0086) for the body and sleeves.
- Contrast color (Chocolate Brown 0867) for the patterned yoke.

Recommended needles are 4 mm and 5 mm circulars (40, 60, or 80 cm depending on size), and 4 mm and 5 mm double-pointed needles for sleeves or small circumferences.

Gauge: 18 stitches × 26 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4 in) using 5 mm needles and knitting in the round. Always make a gauge swatch to ensure your tension matches the pattern.

Available sizes: XXS to 5XL — with full measurements for chest, sleeve, and body length.

Lidt om

Knitter from Iceland

I learned to knit at age 6 and fell in love right away. Over the years I’ve mostly focused on traditional Icelandic Wool sweaters (lopapeysa). After a burnout in 2023, knitting became my therapy. I couldn't decide which patterns to knit, so I decided to try and make my own. The process made me feel alive again, and that’s why I haven't stopped since. My inspiration comes from colors, nature, and even music or memories.
