Uddybende information
Roseli Sweater is an elegant V-neck sweater designed by Miriam Walchshäusl, also known as Mrs Funny Valentine. The design explores the idea of quiet strength and subtle beauty, expressed through refined construction and delicate lace details. Roseli Sweater is a timeless garment that balances softness and structure, making it a versatile addition to a modern handmade wardrobe.
The sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down using the Contiguous shoulder method, creating a clean shoulder line and a comfortable, well-shaped fit without seams. The construction features set-in shoulders and a flattering V-neck, which is finished with a delicate lace collar that mirrors the lace motifs found throughout the design. The body is knit in smooth stockinette stitch, allowing the lace elements to stand out while keeping the overall look calm and sophisticated.
One of the defining features of Roseli Sweater is its lace sleeves. The lace pattern grows organically from the upper sleeve and continues down to the cuff, creating a soft visual rhythm. After blocking, the lace edges form gentle waves that add movement and lightness to the design. Subtle lace details are also repeated at the hem, where knitters can choose between a split hem or a closed hem, depending on personal preference.
Roseli Sweater is knit using one strand of BC Garn Big Bio Balance, a DK-weight yarn made from 55% wool and 45% cotton. The yarn has a yardage of 280 meters per 100 grams, which equals 140 meters per 50 grams or 2.8 meters per gram. This blend provides excellent stitch definition for lace while remaining breathable and comfortable for everyday wear.
The recommended needle sizes are 4.0 mm for the body and 3.75 mm for the neckline, or the needle size needed to obtain gauge. The blocked gauge is 18 stitches and 26 rows per 10 cm in stockinette stitch. One Roseli lace repeat measures approximately 4.5 cm across.
Roseli Sweater is available in women’s sizes XS through 5XL and is designed to be worn with approximately 1.5–4 cm of positive ease at the bust. The top-down construction allows easy adjustments to both length and fit, making the sweater highly adaptable to individual preferences.
This pattern is well suited for intermediate knitters who enjoy lace, thoughtful construction, and elegant details.
