Uddybende information
Rosalind Sweater is a romantic and thoughtful knitwear design created by Mrs Funny Valentine and inspired by the life and scientific legacy of Rosalind Franklin. The sweater reflects strength, perseverance, and quiet determination, translated into a soft yet expressive garment with refined feminine details.
The Rosalind Sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down and features a classic silhouette with set-in sleeves. The shoulders and sleeves are shaped invisibly using short rows, creating a smooth and flattering fit across the upper body. The yoke is decorated with a delicate twisted rib pattern that adds texture and depth while maintaining the light, airy feel of the design.
A distinctive design feature is the decorative frill that runs across the chest and around the neckline. This frill is worked separately by picking up stitches and shaping them with generous increases, creating volume and movement. The neckline is finished with a ribbed neckband that is folded and sewn down on the inside for a polished and comfortable finish.
The sleeves are straight with softly ribbed cuffs and finished with a delicate picot bind-off, which is echoed at the neckline frill for visual harmony. A small contrasting bow placed at the center of the chest adds a subtle, poetic detail that elevates the sweater from a classic staple to a statement piece.
Rosalind Sweater is knitted using 3.25 mm and 3.0 mm needles and sport weight yarn. The original design uses KnitLoop Silky Mohair, a luxurious blend of 70% kid mohair and 30% silk, with a yardage of 300 meters per 100 grams. Depending on size, approximately 944 to 1806 meters of yarn are required. This corresponds to a running length of 150 meters per 50 grams. The sample is knitted in the colors Stein and Weiß.
The sweater is available in women’s sizes XS, S, M (L, XL, 2XL) 3XL, 4XL, 5XL. Finished bust circumference after blocking ranges from 76 cm to 158 cm, including approximately 3 cm of positive ease.
The blocked gauge is 24 stitches and 32 rows per 10 cm in stockinette stitch using the larger needles.
Rosalind Sweater is suited for intermediate to advanced knitters who enjoy detailed construction, decorative elements, and garments with both meaning and elegance.
