Uddybende information

Rúdolf sweater is a timeless Icelandic lopapeysa designed by Rakel from Lopamunstur, also known as Knitter from Iceland. This classic yoke sweater combines tradition with modern comfort and is worked seamlessly from the bottom up. The design features a beautiful three-color yoke pattern that makes it stand out while still being rooted in authentic Icelandic knitting traditions. Both body and sleeves are knitted in the round and later joined together for the striking yoke, ensuring a clean and professional finish without unnecessary seams.

The pattern is written for sizes XXS to 5XL, making it a versatile choice for knitters who wish to create a perfectly fitted sweater for themselves or as a gift. The recommended yarn is Super Wool from Icewear, which comes in 50 g skeins with a yardage of 150 m. This equals a running length of 150 m per 50 g, or 300 m per 100 g, which gives the sweater both warmth and lightness. As an alternative, the well-known Icelandic wool Lettlopi can also be used to achieve the right texture and drape. The required amounts vary by size, but the main color (Colour A) ranges from 6 skeins in XS up to 13 skeins in 5XL, while the contrasting colors B and C range between 1 and 3 skeins depending on size.

The Rúdolf sweater is worked using 4 mm and 5 mm circular needles, with additional double-pointed needles in the same sizes for the sleeves. The gauge is 18 stitches and 26 rows over 10 cm on 5 mm needles, which ensures the sweater has the right density and warmth while still remaining flexible and soft. Because the designer knits tightly, you may need to adjust your needle size down to 4.5 mm or 4 mm to achieve the correct tension, so a swatch is highly recommended.

Finishing details include a ribbed neckline worked on 4 mm needles, folded in half for extra warmth and comfort around the neck. The pattern also includes clear guidance for assembling sleeves, joining the yoke, and working decreases in the colorwork, ensuring even knitters new to Icelandic yokes can succeed. With detailed instructions for underarm finishing and blocking, the Rúdolf sweater is a rewarding project that will result in a garment both warm and stylish, perfect for winter wear.

Lidt om

Knitter from Iceland

I learned to knit at age 6 and fell in love right away. Over the years I’ve mostly focused on traditional Icelandic Wool sweaters (lopapeysa). After a burnout in 2023, knitting became my therapy. I couldn't decide which patterns to knit, so I decided to try and make my own. The process made me feel alive again, and that’s why I haven't stopped since. My inspiration comes from colors, nature, and even music or memories.
