The mittens are worked seamlessly from the bottom up in the round. The main body is knitted in a plush bouclé yarn that creates a soft, fleece-like fabric with a comforting texture. Thumb stitches are set aside while the thumb gusset is shaped with carefully placed increases, allowing for a natural and comfortable fit. After the gusset is complete, the palm is worked straight to length before decreasing evenly for a rounded tip. The thumb is then picked up and worked separately in the round, finishing with a simple decrease crown.
Temple Mittens are knitted using Lana Grossa Orsetto, a bouclé yarn made from 60 percent merino and 40 percent alpaca. The yarn has a yardage of 75 meters per 50 grams, and depending on size, the mittens require between 39 and 150 meters. The cuffs are worked in Lana Grossa Cool Wool Big, a smooth DK-weight yarn made from 100 percent merino with a yardage of 120 meters per 50 grams. The contrast between the fluffy bouclé body and the smooth ribbed cuff creates both visual clarity and a secure fit. For an extra warm option, the pattern includes instructions for a lined version, which uses a second inner mitten and requires double the amount of bouclé yarn.
The pattern includes sizes for children and adults, ranging from C1 to A10, with finished palm circumferences from 12.5 to 28 cm after blocking.
