Uddybende information
Granny Square Sweater is a fantastic and colorful sweater that combines classic crochet techniques with modern design. Created by designer Tove Lindtein, it’s perfect for those who love a bohemian-inspired and creative touch in their wardrobe. The sweater is made up of 20 hand-crocheted granny squares, which are assembled to form the front, back, and sleeves – creating a beautiful, textured patchwork look.
This sweater is both crocheted and knitted using double strands of yarn for added volume and warmth. The recommended yarn is Ingenua by Katia – a luxurious blend of 78% mohair, 13% polyamide, and 9% wool. The yarn comes in 50 g balls with a length of 140 meters. A total of 600 g of yarn is used for the sweater, divided into the following colors: black (300 g), white (200 g), and grey (100 g). The fluffy mohair blend gives the sweater a soft, voluminous feel while remaining lightweight and comfortable to wear.
The sweater is one size and has the following measurements: Bust circumference: 132 cm, Total length: approx. 54 cm, and Sleeve length: approx. 44 cm. The squares are crocheted using a 10 mm crochet hook and joined using the same hook or sewn together. For the ribbing at the neckline, hem, and cuffs, a 7 mm circular needle (40 cm and 80 cm) is used, and the rib is knitted in 1x1 rib stitch using double yarn.
Each granny square is worked over 5 rounds and measures approx. 22 x 22 cm. The colors alternate between black, white, and grey, arranged in a way that adds depth and contrast to the finished piece. The squares are joined to create the front and back panels as well as the sleeves, which are then assembled to complete the sweater. The neck and bottom edges are finished with ribbing for a neat and comfortable fit.
Granny Square Sweater is a fun and rewarding project that combines crochet and knitting in a single pattern. It’s ideal for anyone who wants to explore color play, texture, and craftsmanship – and to create a standout sweater that truly makes a statement.
